My $15.80 Weekly Grocery Shopping Trip & Meal Menu for a family of 4

I had the blessing of having my mom walk along my life with me for the last five days.

It’s so good.

This is the first time I have been able to truly understand our time as a blessing. Instead of getting angry and pouting  about why I have to live so far from my family. I enjoyed and soaked it all in and I am thankful.

I also got to take just my 2 year old grocery shopping with me while she watched my 4 year old. That was nice!

This is a small week for me. I took a look in my cupboards and said WHOA! I have so many chips and crackers I really don’t need much at the grocery store.

my cupboards

I need to MAKE snacks and get creative.

Some days isn’t that hard?

It’s so easy to buy Little Debbie snacks for free and just give it to our kids.

It’s so easy once you start giving all the convenience food to just continue in it.

So for me this week, I am reminding myself to get creative in the kitchen.

Not be too hard on myself- I did buy yogurt that is loaded in sugar….

But I do reflect on the fact they do not eat this yogurt 24/7…

It’s so important to have balance. Give yourself grace.  I really believe that in the food we eat too.

Some weeks we have unexpected expenses.

Other weeks we may have surprises in more money.

It’s important to take action on those weeks.

Maybe last week your kids ate nothing but fruits and veggies and this week they push it aside, so you bring out the boxed mac and cheese that is not organic… THAT’S OK!

RIGHT?!

Can’t that be ok?

When I open my one cupboard for snacks and see it completely full where I can’t see shelves. I think how blessed we truly are.

We are not experiencing hunger here.

We are able to run to TOPS and load up on deals.

We have so many things to be thankful for.

I say this as a reminder to you and mostly to myself.

My generation has information overload. We get ourselves so worked up about what we should be feeding our kids and how we should be parenting…. all from what we are reading and seeing on the internet.

We forget to use our natural instincts and stay thankful.

This week I encourage you to get creative in your kitchen. To look through your cupboards and take in a moment of thankfulness.

Truly reflect on how we take for granted our kids asking for water and we just go to the sink and turn it on and hand it to them.
