FRIDAY 5/15
- Geranium Sale at Grand View Cemetery in Batavia. 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. $3.50 a plant. All proceeds go to the Cemetery. Not sure where that is click here
- Xanadua Play at Harvester Theatre. The Batavia Players will present its production of “Xanadu” at 7:30 p.m. May 14-16 and 2 p.m. May 16-17, at Harvester 56 Theater. The musical is based on the film, starring Olivia Newton John, that featured music by the Electric Light Orchestra. Admission is $12 for adults, and $10 for students and seniors. - “Beertavia,” will offer New York State craft beer, local restaurants selling food, and live music by Stone Row (Irish/Celtic Rock) in downtown Batavia from 3 to 6 p.m. The event also offers VIPs a designated area with added special perks such as an 8oz. commemorative glass, special brews, food, VIP restrooms, and more. Regular ticket holders will receive a 5.5 oz. sampler glass. You must be 21 to purchase tickets and enter the event including designated drivers. You must show proof of age at registration. - The historic Linwood Gardens features a distinguished collection of tree peonies dating from 1940. Each spring when the tree peonies are in bloom, Linwood celebrates this special event with the Tree Peony Festival of Flowers.

- Beaver Meadow Audubon Center, 1610 Welch Rd., North Java, NY
Join Naturalist Tom Kerr on our monthly birding adventure! This month we’ll be searching for colorful songbirds that are passing through Beaver Meadow as they head north. Learn all about birds like Warblers, Vireos, and Flycatchers. Binoculars are provided. Meet at Nature Center. Kids ages 8 to 16. Pre-registration is required. Please call 585-457-3228 to register. - Genesee County Master Gardeners will be hosting their Spring Garden Gala from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Genesee County, 420 East Main Street in Batavia.
There will be a plant sale featuring geraniums, hardy perennials and house plants. There will also be a Chance Auction, free soil pH testing and plenty of gardening advice from Master Gardeners. - 1st Annual Antique Appraisal Fair. GO ART! will be hosting its 1st Annual Antique Appraisal Fair located at Seymour Place, 201 E. Main Street, Batavia. Register in advance or just drop by between 10:00 and 2:30 to have one or two items appraised by one of the many local antique appraisers. All proceeds go to support your local Arts Council.
- 4-H Swine Club Pulled Pork Fundraiser – 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 16 at the Kennedy Building, on the Genesee County Fairgrounds, 5056 East Main Street Rd., Batavia. Eat in or take out; pulled pork, potatoes, coleslaw, baked beans and a beverage. Tickets are $10 each and are available for purchase at the Genesee County 4-H Office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, located at 420 East Main St., Batavia. - Crossroads House Fundraiser – Annual Spring Basket Auction – Noon to 4 p.m. May 16 at City Church Generation Center, 15 Center St. Batavia. Basket draws begin at 2:45 p.m. Lite lunch available for purchase. $5 admission includes one sheet of tickets, desserts & coffee. In addition sheets of tickets, Mega & money tree tickets available for $5.
- Rummage Sale – 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 16 at St. Padre Pio Parish, 65 Main St., Elba.

SUNDAY 5/17
- The Genesee Chorale, with help from dancers from West Side Academy of Performing Arts and Divine Dance, will present “Music in Motion,” a night of contemporary choral selections interpreted by live dancers. It is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Elba Central School. Also featured in the concert will be the Greycliffe String Quartet. Tickets are $8 pre-sale and $10 at the door. Advance tickets are available through www.geneseechorale.com.
- Genesee County ABATE 2nd Annual Post to Post Run – 9:30 a.m. May 17 at the Batavia Post #332, Rt. 98, Batavia. All proceeds will go to the VA Hospital towards the purchase of a new van to transport our Vets. Kick stands up at 11 a.m. The stops will be in Le Roy, Warsaw, and Attica. And ending back in Batavia. Donation of $10 per person. There will also be 50/50 tickets available with all proceeds going towards the van. For more information and to get tickets call Bill at 815-9945 or Jody at 746-5097.
- Chicken Barbecue – Noon,at the Cornerstone Church of East Pembroke, Rt. 5, East Pembroke. There will be chicken, homemade salad, baked beans and roll. Take out or eat “on the Green” if weather permits. For more information, call 762-8721
- The Batavia Cemetery Association will hold a Victorian Home Tour from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 17. The walking tour will begin at start from the Historic Batavia Cemetery on Harvester Avenue and show the interiors of Victorian homes on Ellicott Avenue, Ross and Summit Streets. The houses were all built between 1862 and 1899. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased online at www.bataviacemetery.com, in person at T-Shirts, Etc., 111 Main St., or by calling (585) 507-6524. The walking tour is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
Proceeds will benefit the upkeep and restoration of the Historic Batavia Cemetery, which was founded in 1823 and is listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places. - Elba Fire Dept. Hosting A Pasta Dinner Benefit for Michael Pfendler – 2 to 7 p.m. May 17 at the Elba Rec. Hall, 7143 Rt. 98, Elba. There will be 50/50 raffles, raffles, Chinese auction and much more. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children. All proceeds will go to Michael and family to help with medical expenses. Michael is 17 years old and is a senior at Elba Central School. He was diagnosed with advanced stage Testicular cancer. He had surgery on March 27 to remove the mass. He started chemotherapy on April 3. Michael is a member of the Elba Fire Dept. He is the son of Jen Russell and step-son of Dj Beehler. Tickets re available at Elba Town Clerk’s Office, Chap’s Diner, M&T Bank in Elba or purchase at the door.
