Top 6 Things to buy at Costco for a July 4th Backyard BBQ

Hot Dogs or Brats and Buns

If you know American tradition, you know we love our hot dogs on holidays. Costco is great for Hot Dogs and Brats if you’re having lots of guests this year for July 4th.

You can pick up Kirkland Signature Beef Hot Dogs with a three-pack of 12 for $19.49 or less in-store.
Grab them in-store or order online. If 36 is too many, freeze the packs you don’t need.

Bread options are great to pick up here as you can always freeze what you don’t need. A 24-pack of Hotdog or Hamburger buns is about $2.

Condiments

When it comes to condiments, Costco is the place to go. They have a wide variety of options at great prices. Here are some of the best ones to buy for your July 4th BBQ.

  • Mustard
  • Ketchup
  • Mayo
  • BBQ Sauce
  • Relish
  • Ranch

Make it easy with this Heinz Grill Pack with Ketchup, Mustard, and Relish for $11.99. It includes two ketchup bottles, one mustard, and one relish.

Pretzels, Chips, Crackers, Cookies, Nuts, and Other Snacks

What’s great about buying snacks like this from Costco is you get the individually packed variety packs. Like the Doritos one that includes Nacho Cheese and Ranch or the Frito Lay packs.

This way you have more options and people can take their bags.

The Cookies are $7.99 for a 24-pack of Triple Chocolate, White Macadamia, and Chocolate Chip. My favorite is the white macadamia.

Don’t miss the chance to bust out the Kirkland Signature Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels. These are Costco classic items for $12.49 online or less in-store. But, of course, you can’t go wrong with the price for a 55 oz jar!

Beer, Wine, and Soda

Costco is a great option for stocking up on your favorite Sodas, Beers, and Wines. Because they offer things in bulk, you can get great deals on brands like Sam Adams, Budweiser, Hard Seltzers, etc.

Stock the coolers with Coke, Seltzers, or Kirkland’s Famous Margarita Mixes.

I like that Costco will offer local companies like Wicked Weed out of Asheville, NC.
Sometimes this makes a great gift opportunity for those beer nerds.

Depending on your location, you may not be able to purchase alcoholic beverages. You can still stock up on your favorite carbonated drinks, but you may have to make an extra trip.

Fruit & Veggie Trays

First off, I’m not sure where else you can purchase a 4lb Veggie Platter for $9.99. Pair that up with a 3lb fresh cut fruit bowl for $9.99, and you have both for $20.

You can’t go wrong with 5 lbs. of healthy food for that price.
These trays are always popular for our July 4th BBQ.

Skip the work of cutting things up. These generally are a hit at parties. We highly recommend both or either of these platters. Speaking of platters…

Party Platters

So, you’re planning a party. You want to ensure your guests are well-fed, but you don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen. What do you do? Head to Costco, of course!

Party platters offer all of the convenience of store-bought food with no fuss. Plus, they’re affordable and easy to customize to your liking.

Here are our favorite picks for party platters at Costco. Of course, you’ll need an order form and give at least 24-hour notice.

  • Croissant Sandwich Platter (serves 16-20): $32.99

You may be able to email or fax the form instead of dropping it off. Call your local Costco and ask.

Ice Cream Treats

Stay cool during the 4th of July with some delicious frozen treats. You can scoop up these Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond Haagen Dazs Ice Cream Bars or the classic Nestle Drumstick variety pack. There are many others, and these are just a few of our favorites.

I also have to mention the 5 Popular Costco Summer Treats for 2021, including the Kirkland Frozen Cocktail Pops. These are great for adults who want to drink and cool down.

Every summer, members rave about these. 18 for $16.99
